One day the two friends had a falling out and parted company for good. But Willie was allowed to keep using his chum’s name for the cider he sold in Ireland.
By 1999 Willie’s cider had become so popular that his dedicated successors wanted to share it beyond the Irish shores.
They couldn’t use his chum’s name outside Ireland, so they named the cider Magners Original Irish Cider, in honour of the great man himself.
