We're proud to sponsor the Magners Glasgow International Comedy Festival

Here are some of
our highlights

When we’re not making cider, we like nothing better than to have a laugh or two. So it seemed a natural fit to sponsor the UK’s largest comedy festival, featuring the likes of Jimmy Carr, Frankie Boyle, Rhod Gilbert, Dave Gorman and Lee Mack.

Here are some of our highlights from 2010.

WARNING: SOME OF THE CLIPS MAY CONTAIN HUMOUR OF AN ADULT NATURE

Chris Forbes

Chris burst onto the comedy scene at the end of 2006 and it didn’t take long before this gangly, good natured funny-man quickly established himself as one of Scotland’s fastest rising young stars.

His conversational, laid-back style along with constant references to the crowd, between lines, always fills the room with laughter. Chris regularly plays in Scotland’s top comedy venues, as well as in Newcastle, London and Manchester.

David Kay

David Kay is an exceptional comic. Nowhere in the country, will you find anyone with such slow, quirky, unorthodox style, and such a unique blend of extraordinary observations.

He is no stranger to the Magners Glasgow International Comedy festival, having performed sell out solo shows in 2006, 2009 and 2010. You may have also seen him at the Edinburgh Fringe festival, as well as ‘The Old Guys’ & ‘Rab C Nesbitt’ on BBC.

Billy Kirkwood

The bonafide ‘comedy-fizz bomb’ Ayrshire born Billy has quickly established himself as a must see act with an ever expanding, cult following, thanks to his unique yet slightly surreal style of storytelling and energetic performances.

Teddy

In his first year at University, at the tender age of 18, he began attending comedy workshops run by The Stand Comedy Club and has been performing stand-up gigs ever since.

His popular style of incorporating true life stories and topical gags weaved together in a darkly comic fashion, will leave you wanting more.

Des Clarke

Des Clarke is one of the UK's most exciting rising stars. He has made a name for himself as both a highly successful comedian and as one of television and radio’s hottest presenters, for the likes of BBC2’s ‘Sportsround’ and ESPN’s quiz show ‘The Umpire Strikes Back’.

As well as being a stand-up comedian, Des is a well known celebrity newspaper columnist and an accomplished after dinner speaker.

Mick Sergeant

Mick Sergeant is an unemployed shipyard worker desperately trying to re-invent himself as a comedian, artist, social commentator and erotic fiction writer. Of course, he is also a fictional character made up by Lee Fenwick.

Hils Barker

Hils is a stand-up comedian, writer and actress who last year, played the Hammersmith Apollo for the first time, as part of the LIVEstock benefit gig. She can also be seen at her own fortnightly gig in Kings Cross, London.

David Longley

Cutting edge comedy from a newcomer making massive waves on the UK comedy circuit. His thought provoking, yet accessible style takes tricky issues to any audience.

Susan Calman

Feisty Glaswegian Susan Calman gave up her lucrative career in corporate law to become a comedian and has since proven to be one of the fastest rising stars in comedy. Susan performed her debut solo stand up show ‘Maybe It’s Your Fault’ at the Edinburgh Fringe festival 2008 and returned with ‘The Last Woman on Earth’ in 2009. Recently Susan has presented her own show ‘Funny Friends’ on BBC Radio Scotland and has been making a name for herself as a regular panelist on BBC Radio 4’s ‘News Quiz’.
